The Mayo River is a 50 km long right tributary of the Stewart River in Canada's Yukon Territory .
The Mayo River forms the drain of Mayo Lake . This has been flow-regulated since 1952 and serves as a water reservoir for the Mayo A and Mayo B hydropower plants on the lower reaches of the Mayo River. The river initially flows west. It takes up Duncan Creek coming from the north and gradually turns to the southwest and later to the south. The Minto Creek flows above the Wareham Lake from the west into the river. Here the Silver Trail crosses the Mayo River. The Wareham Lake is an artificial lake. On the eastern shore, much of the water to the two hydropower plants is Mayo A and Mayo B passed. The Mayo River finally flows into the Stewart River on the western outskirts of Mayo . The Mayo River drains an area of about 2260 km². The mean discharge at the mouth is around 20 m³ / s.
