Mazuel (family of musicians)

The actual founder of the French family of musicians Mazuel from the transition period from the Renaissance to the Baroque is the chef Jean Mazuel (addressed as "Jean I"). His two sons, the violinist Adrien Mazuel (life dates not known) and the instrumental musician Guillaume Mazuel (1541–1590) played as baroque instrumental musicians in the same ensemble. Adrien had addressed a son, the instrumental musician, in the WP as Jean Mazuel the Elder (1560-1618, otherwise as Jean Mazuel II). The second son of the cook Jean Mazuel was Guillaume Mazuel (1541–1596). From 1574 he was also head of the French Communauté des joueurs d'instruments (head of the Association of French Instrumentalists). He is the father of the violinist Jean Mazuel (father) (1568-1616, otherwise referred to as Jean Mazuel III ). His sons Jean Mazuel (son) (otherwise addressed as Jean Mazuel IV ) Pierre Mazuel were again musicians. Via Jean Mazuel (father), the Mazuel family was closely intertwined with the family of Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, alias Molière .
