from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jean Mazuel the Elder (* 1560 in Paris ; † around 1618 there ) was a classical instrumental musician and member of the Parisian family of musicians Mazuel at the time of the Baroque.

Jean Mazuel was the son of the violinist Adrien Mazuel . His son was the musician Michel Mazuel . Within the family of musicians there are two other Jean Mazuel : the composer Jean Mazuel (father) (1568-1616) and his son Jean Mazuel (son) . These are agreements made by his paternal uncle Guillaume Mazuel .

Mazuel belonged to a group of orchestral musicians in 1598. In two other orchestral groups he played the dessus de violon , i.e. the viola da gamba , and the cornet , sometimes also the flute .
