Meškalaukis
Meškalaukis is a place in the pasvalys district municipality , in the district Joniskelis , in the district of Panevezys in Lithuania . There are 453 inhabitants (2011). In the village there is a medical center, a cooperative and since June 1992 the company ŽŪB “Meškalaukis”. The former Meškalaukis primary school was reorganized into a primary education department of the Joniškėlis school and closed in 2013.

history
From 1868 the village was administered by the Lithuanian-Russian officer Felicijonas Karpis (1821-1880) in what was then the Russian Empire . In 1923 a primary school Meškalaukis (lit. Meškalaukio pradžios mokykla ) was founded. 1950–1992 it was the central settlement of the local collective farm in what was then Soviet Lithuania . There has been a library since 1950. The school facility existed as a department of the Joniškėlis grammar school until September 1, 2013 ( Joniškėlio Gabrielės Petkevičaitės-Bitės gimnazijos Meškalaukio pradinio ugdymo skyrius ).
