Meda de Mouros is a locality and former municipality in Portugal .

history

The Arab Moors mined gold in a small mine on what is now called Castelo . The current town was probably created after the resettlement policy during the Reconquista . Meda de Mouros belonged to the municipality of Coja in the district of the same name before it became an independent municipality in the district of Coja through outsourcing at the end of the 16th century. In the course of the administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 and the Miguelistenkrieg that followed in 1834 , the Coja district was dissolved in 1853 and Arganil was incorporated , as was Meda de Mouros. Meda de Mouros has been a municipality in Tabua County since 1855.

In 2013 the independent municipality of Meda de Mouros was dissolved and merged with Pinheiro de Coja to form a new municipality.

administration

Meda de Mouros was a community ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Tábua in the district of Coimbra . On June 30, 2011 the community had 213 inhabitants in an area of 7.6 km².

In the course of the local reorganization of Portugal after the local elections on September 29, 2013, Meda de Mouros was merged with Pinheiro de Coja to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Pinheiro de Coja e Meda de Mouros . Pinheiro de Coja was the seat of the new municipality, but the administration in Meda de Mouros remained as a citizens' office.
