The medal for the guard of honor at the royal tombs ( it. Medaglia d´argento per la guardia d´onore alle tombe reali al ) was an award of the Kingdom of Italy , which was donated in 1879 by King Umberto in one step. The award was given to all members of the guard of honor at the royal tombs in the Pantheon in Rome .

Appearance and wearing style

The silver medal shows the left-facing head bust of King Umberto on its obverse in a central medallion, surrounded by the inscription VITTEM AN III RE D´ITALIA . The middle medallion is depicted in front of a five-armed star with laurel branches between the tips. The reverse is smooth and shows the sechzeilige inscription AI / VETERANI E REDUGI / GUARDIA D'ONORE / ALL TOMRE DEI RE / VITTORIO EMANUELLE II / E JMBERTO I . (The veterans of the honor guard at the tomb of King Victor Emanuell II). The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest of the borrower on a blue ribbon with a vertical white central stripe in the middle, a green stripe on the front edge and a red stripe on the back of the ribbon.
