Medalen is a scattered settlement in Romsdal in the Norwegian Fylke Møre og Romsdal . The settlement has about 100 inhabitants and includes the farms and hamlets Lyngheim, Horgheim, Myrabø, Marstein , Alnes, Alnestrøen, Monge, Remmem, Skiri and Flatmark.

Agriculture is an important industry .

location

Medalen is located approximately in the middle of Romsdalen, approximately one mile (about eleven kilometers) southeast of Åndalsnes , bordered to the northwest by Nerdalen and on the southeast by Øverdalen . It is surrounded by steep mountains and is the starting point for tours to Trolltindene and Kalskråtinden.

The listed cross church ( Norwegian “Kors kirke” ) is located directly on the Monge farm.

traffic

The place can be reached by the European route 136 . Medalen had a train station in Marstein from November 30, 1924 to January 1, 1964 on the Raumabane , which continued as a stopping point until May 27, 1990. Since then it has served as a crossing station with no passenger traffic .
