Medvedivka ( Ukrainian Медведівка , Russian Медведевка Medwedewka , Polish Danielgród ) is a village in the southeast of the Ukrainian Cherkassy Oblast with about 1400 inhabitants (2001).

The village is the administrative center of the district council of the same name in the south of the Chyhyryn district , to which the village of Ivkivtsi ( Івківці ) with about 300 inhabitants also belongs.

Medvedivka is located on the right bank of the Tyasmyn , a tributary of the Dnieper and on the territorial road T − 24−02 29 km northwest of the Rajon center Tschyhyryn and 42 km southeast of the Oblast center Cherkassy .

Personalities

Iwkivtsi is the birthplace of Maksym Salisnjak , born around 1740 , a Zaporozhian Cossack and leader of the Hajdamaks in the Koliivshchyna uprising of 1768.
