Meelis Rooba (born April 20, 1977 in Roosna-Alliku ) is a former Estonian football player who worked as a coach after retiring in 2010. He is the older brother of Urmas Rooba .

Career

Meelis Rooba attended elementary school in his native Roosna-Alliku . He and his brother Urmas started playing soccer in the 1980s. In the second half of the 1994/95 season , he should be able to complete his first season as a professional at Lelle SK . In the further course of his career he played for FC Flora Tallinn and JK Tulevik Viljandi with another between station in Lelle. From 2000 he played again for Flora with whom he celebrated three championship titles and Supercup successes between 2001 and 2004. Then he was under contract with the lower-class Operi JK to end his career, but decided to stay active for Paide Linnameeskond for two years .

National team

Meelis Rooba made his debut for the Estonian national football team during the Baltic Cup in 1996 in his home country against Latvia . In the same year he was able to celebrate the first goal for the national team against Finland . For the selection of his home country, he was also used in qualifying games for European and World Championships between 1996 and 2004. He also took part with the national team in the Baltic Cup in 1997 , 1998 , 2001 and 2003 , where he was denied a title with Estonia. The last of a total of 50 international matches Rooba completed in April 2004 against Albania in the local Lilleküla stadium in Tallinn.

Trainer

In the summer of 2010 he took up the position of coach of Paide Linnameeskond in the Meistriliiga.
