Meiko (born February 25, 1982 in Roberta , Georgia ) is an American singer and songwriter .

Life

On September 1, 2007, Meiko released an album named after her without the help of a label. This made it number 35 on the US iTunes Top 100 Album Charts and number 1 on the iTunes Folk Album Charts for one month. ITunes had more than 200,000 downloads of their album in the first nine months. Several of her songs were featured on various television shows in prime time .

After Meiko had signed a recording contract with the MySpace Records / DGC label in June 2008 , it released a new version of their album in collaboration with Meiko's own independent label Lucky Ear Music . The songs were remixed and remastered for this . The most popular songs were re-recorded and the new song "Boys With Girlfriends" was added to the album.

The digital album was re-released on August 5, 2008 and reached number 14 on the iTunes Top 100 Album Charts as well as number 1 in the iTunes Folk Album Charts. The new song "Boys with Girlsfriends" reached number 1 on the "iTunes Folk Song Charts".

Meiko has lived in Hamburg since April 2018 , but, according to her Twitter profile, is regularly in Macon ( Georgia ), Los Angeles ( California ), Nashville ( Tennessee ) and London .
