Milestone (large sphere)
The Großkugel milestone is a landmarked milestone in the area of the Großkugel district of the Kabelsketal municipality in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments , the milestone is recorded as a minor monument under registration number 094 98576 .
The border between the Prussian province of Saxony and Electoral Saxony was near Großkugel . From here the first Prussian Chaussee, built between 1788 and 1800, led via Halle to Magdeburg , today the Bundesstraße 6 runs here . The Kingdom of Prussia was the founder of the milestone made in 1800 . In this part of the Prussian Chaussee, the Leipziger Chaussee , only a few milestones have been preserved. This milestone is a quarter milestone and not a full milestone as is sometimes claimed. The relocation of the route within Halle changed the locations of the milestones. The current location is very likely not the original location of the milestone. In addition to the relocation of the route, there is also evidence that a few decades ago the base and base of a whole milestone were found here. However, these disappeared in the early 1990s.
