The milestone in Merseburg in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt is a historical whole milestone that indicates the distance in Prussian miles . It is a listed building as milestones in Saxony-Anhalt are both traffic and legal monuments. Today the obelisk is a few meters away from it in the course of König-Heinrich-Straße on the station forecourt. It was erected here in the course of the road construction from Halle (Saale) to Weißenfels in 1819.

Since the city on the Saale was the headquarters of the Prussian government district of Merseburg at that time, a particularly high obelisk was erected so that the entire monument reaches a height of more than five meters. In addition to the distances to Halle (two miles correspond to a little more than 15 kilometers) and Weißenfels (2 3/8 miles are 17.88 kilometers), the stone shows that it is 24 miles (180.77 kilometers) away from Berlin. This information places it in the Prussian road network, because it shows that the Chaussee from Halle to Weißenfels was planned as a connection to the Chaussee Berlin – Kassel, from which it branches off at the Steintor in Halle, where the all-mile obelisk with the inscription “Berlin 22 miles ”.
