Melissa Gorman

Melissa Gorman (born December 11, 1985 in Sydney ) is an Australian swimmer . She competes in the long distances in the swimming pool as well as in the open water . Her greatest success in open water is the 2009 world championship title over 5 km; In the pool, she was Australian champion several times and achieved bronze at the 2004 Short Course World Championships and silver in the 800 m freestyle at the 2006 Commonwealth Games .

At the Olympic swimming competitions in 2008 she took part in both the pool and open water competitions; She failed over 800 m in the pool as a total of 17th in the preliminary run, in the 10 km open water race she was 15th. In 2010 she won the bronze medal in the 800 m freestyle at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi .
