The Melkerscharte represents the high alpine transition between the Zemmgrund and Gunggl valleys in the Zillertal Alps ( Tyrol , Austria ).

It is located at an altitude of 2814 meters between the mountain peaks Plattenkopf (2899 m), which is also called Melkerschartenspitze, and Zsigmondyspitze (3089 m). The AV hiking trail 522 leads over the Melkerscharte, which begins above Ginzling , runs through the entire Gunggl and joins the Berliner Höhenweg south of the Melkerscharte in the Zemmgrund .
