Men in Black is an American short film from 1934. It premiered on September 28, 1934 in the United States. The film was also released in Brazil ( "As Coisas estão Pretas" ) and Mexico ( "Hombres de negro" ). The film was produced by Jules White at Columbia Pictures Corporation . The film appeared as part of a series of short films by comedian group The Three Stooges . In 1935 he was nominated for an Oscar in the category "Best Short Film - Comedy".

The film shows three young doctors who only passed their exams because they had been enrolled at university for too long. They are starting their first job in a hospital. In doing so, they commit all sorts of faux pas and mishaps that are portrayed slapstick-like .

Men in Black is a parody of the drama Men in White with Clark Gable , which appeared in the same year and which is about a selfless and self-sacrificing doctor.

  • The short films Punch Drunks and Men in Black helped the Three Stooges achieve their breakthrough and subsequent success.
  • The loudspeaker announcement “Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard “occurs as a reminiscence of a corresponding scene in the film in numerous other films and pieces of music in a similar form. According to Gene Simmons , the song Calling Dr. Love on the album Rock and Roll Over also inspired by this announcement.

Men in Black was in 1935 together with La Cucaracha and What, No Men! Nominated for an Oscar in the “ Best Short Film - Comedy ” category. The winner was the film La Cucaracha, produced by Kenneth Macgowan .
