History and Development
Foundation of the Spadaka Association in Halingen
In October 1898 33 citizens founded the savings and loan association Halingen eGmuH in order to create a cooperative self-administration in the sense of a Raiffeisen credit cooperative. The founding fathers include farmer Carl Stuckenhoff and farmer Heinrich Ammelt, who held their positions as chairman of the board and his deputy.
Creation of the cash register in Holzen
On March 3, 1901, the savings and loan fund was founded in Holzen . In addition to the local residents, she included Bösperde, von der Landwehr and vom Ohl and Schwitten in her business activities. The model for the establishment of the cash register was the Spadaka in Halingen , created in 1898 . 52 years later this merged with the Spadaka association in Halingen, from which the savings and loan fund Bösperde-Halingen eGmuH emerged on July 22, 1953. In the years that followed, the liabilities changed from a cooperative with unlimited liability to a cooperative with limited liability. In the course of this, the name of the bank was adjusted accordingly. The savings and loan fund Bösperde-Halingen eGmuH was renamed to the savings and loan fund eG Menden-Bösperde.
Mendener Bank eG
105 years after the founding of the two banks in Holzen and Halingen, the savings and loan bank eG Menden-Bösperde merged with the Genossenschaftsbank Lendringsen eG, which was established in 1898, from which the Mendener Bank eG emerged on March 22, 2003.
Social work
Menden Community Foundation
The Mendener Bürgerstiftung is a community foundation created by citizens for citizens on the initiative of the city of Menden and Mendener Bank eG. With the help of the citizens, industry, trade, commerce and banks, it wants to initiate, shape and promote the community in Menden in areas that are not part of the regular tasks of the city administration and for which no public funds are available. On the one hand, this should be done by soliciting endowments and donations, which enable the Menden Community Foundation to initiate, promote and implement projects to fulfill the foundation's purposes. On the other hand, the citizens should be motivated to volunteer in the Menden Civic Foundation and the projects it supports. The foundation capital makes the community foundation independent of changing willingness to donate, public grants and political majorities in the long term. The Menden Community Foundation only uses the income from its assets and donations for its work, so that the foundation's assets are preserved.
Eight “founding fathers” make up the organs of the foundation as voluntary members. In addition to Ulrich Hackl, board member of Mendener Bank eG, Ulrich Quantity (City of Menden) and the entrepreneur Johann Caspar Tönnesmann form the board. The board of trustees consists of the chairman Rainer Scholand, Volker Fleige, Ernst Kayser, Stefan Maaß and Reinhold Voß.
