The Meng (often also Beli in the headwaters ) is a river in Cameroon .
course
Its source rivers arise on the eastern flank of the Tchabal-Mbabo in the Faro-et-Déo district . It runs mainly in a southerly direction to Tibati, where it flows into the Mbakaou Reservoir. Before the construction of the Mbakaou reservoir, the Maouor emptied about 20 km above the junction with the Djérem. Today this depends on the water level in the reservoir.
Hydrometry
The flow rate of the river was measured in m³ / s at the Mbakaou Reservoir in the city of Tibati, at about 2/3 of the catchment area (excluding Maouor)

Reservoirs
At Tibati, the Djérem is dammed into Lake Mbakaou , into which the Meng also flows. However, the energy available at the dam is not used to generate electricity. The national energy producer Eneo (formerly AES Sonel) uses the reservoir, in addition to the Bamendjing , the Mapé and other smaller ones, to regulate the amount of water in the Sanaga. This optimizes fluctuations in favor of the electricity generating dams Song Loulou and Édéa near the capital Yaoundé .
