Menu Foods Limited is a manufacturer of wet feed for dogs and cats in North America (USA and Canada).

The feed is offered under almost 100 different brand names in a wide variety of price ranges and sales channels, mainly through supermarkets, animal supply chains and wholesalers. Menu Foods produces for almost all of the largest US pet food retailers , including PetSmart , Safeway , Wal-Mart , Pet Valu , Kroger and Ahold . As a contract manufacturer , Menu Foods also produces branded products for the largest North American suppliers. After Procter & Gamble sold its production facility in South Dakota to Menu Foods in 2003, the company became the exclusive manufacturer of moist food for the P&G pet food subsidiary " Iams " (brands "IAMS", "Eukanuba" and others). In addition, Menu Foods produces the "President's Choice" brand for Loblaw , "Master Choice" for A&P , "Compliments" for Sobeys , "Select" for Safeway and practically all animal feed from the Mars subsidiary Nutro . Some of the feed brands mentioned, such as B. Eukanuba and Nutro, are also traded in German-speaking countries.

Menu Foods is headquartered in Streetsville , Ontario, Canada. Four production facilities are maintained, in addition to Streetsville there are also three in the USA: Emporia ( Kansas ), Pennsauken ( New Jersey ), North Sioux City ( South Dakota ). All production facilities together have a capacity of over a billion packs per year.

In March 2007, the company hit the headlines for a scandal when several pets fell ill and died of acute kidney failure after eating food made by Menu Foods. So far, around 200 such cases of illness or death have been known, thousands of them were feared. As a result, over 60 million food packages had to be recalled. Analyzes revealed that certain batches were contaminated with aminopterin and melamine in the wheat gluten , which was imported from China and used as an extender, binder, thickener and protein source . It has been suggested that the aminopterin was used there as a rat poison . Other impurities may also play a role.

In August 2010, Menu Food was acquired by Simmons Pet Food for $ 239 million .
