Mercedes Brignone

Mercedes Brignone (born May 18, 1884 in Madrid , † June 24, 1967 in Milan ) was an Italian actress .

Life

Brignone belongs to a family of artists: the parents are the actors Giuseppe and Adelaide Andriani , her brother the film director Guido Brignone ; thus she is the aunt of the actress Lilla Brignone . At the age of fourteen she made her debut in the ensemble that her father had founded together with Pia Marchi Maggi . Soon she was hired for the role of “lover” with Teresa Mariani , then from 1901 she played with Giuseppe Sichel in order to move to Ferruccio Garavaglia in the following season . In 1904 she founded the acting company "MB & Soci" with Uberto Palmarini ; she married him in May of this year. From 1906 to 1908 she was the first young lady at Oreste Calabresi / E. Severi, the following year with Flavio Andò / Evelina Paoli / Antonio Gandusio . Finally, in 1912, she signed a contract with the "Società degli Autori", where she played under Giannino Antona Traversi .

From 1913, Brignone stayed away from the stage for about ten years and played exclusively in films for the production company “Milano Film”, beginning with Il rubino del destino in 1914 and ending with Maciste e il nipote d'America in 1924. She shot several times with her brother. Ruggero Ruggeri brought her back to the stage, where she is now in mother roles with Ernesto Sabbatini / Prospero Fontana from 1926, with the ensemble of the “Teatro d'Arte” in 1928, again with Ruggeri and from 1932 with Roberto Lupi / N. Pescatori / Paola Borboni could be seen. The film had asked again since 1930; she still played around twenty sound films, almost all of them until the end of the Second World War . In the theater she was now on stage with various colleagues, with Kiki Palmer , Renzo Ricci , Ernesto Calindri and others. After the war she was under contract with Evi Maltagliati / Salvo Randone / Tino Carraro and other ensembles. Various television appearances round off her overall oeuvre from 1959 to 1964.
