Pölzig village church
The Protestant village church in Pölzig is located in the municipality of Pölzig in the Greiz district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish of Pölzig, Dorna, Röpsen and Roschütz in the Gera parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
history
In 1320 a preacher monk is mentioned in the village, so that the existence of a small chapel can be assumed. In 1510 the construction of the church tower with choir and the nave is documented. The triumphal arch and the ogival windows are also mentioned.
On the orders of Countess Barbara Helene von Donnersmark, the images of saints were removed from the church in 1691. In 1692 these were replaced by biblical images. The wooden ceiling was installed in the choir and nave. The pulpit also dates from this time .
In 1744 the tower clock was installed. The first organ was installed in 1810. A larger one was made possible in 1835 thanks to donations from the residents.
Two of the three bronze bells were melted down during the First World War . Subsequently, in 1922 a new chime made of chilled iron (a replacement alloy due to lack of bronze) was cast by the bell foundry Schilling & Lattermann (Apolda and Morgenröthe-Rautenkranz) and installed in the same year. The three bells with the beat tones fis 1 -ais 1 cis 2 (F-sharp major triad) tolled until 2012. On 24 September 2012, the expansion of Eisenhart cast peal was made because of fatigue of bells and yokes. With the renovation of the bell room, a new wooden bell chair was built. It carries the five-part bronze bells of the former Evangelical Community Center Frankfurt-Zeilsheim with the striking notes h 1 –cis 2 –e 2 –fis 2 –a 2 , cast in 1964 by Bachert .
When the church tower was re-roofed in 1935, a weather vane was installed.
Extensive renovation work was carried out in 1978–1980. In 1980 the exterior plaster was renewed and further improvements made.
