The book was widely received and placed in the bestseller list hardcover non-fiction books : It went straight to 17th place and briefly climbed into the top 10 in the following week and, according to the book report, fluctuated between this and 16th place for eight weeks. The sixth edition was published in mid-September 2017.

In her article for the taz , Anja Maier comes to a judgment that is already devastating in the heading : “Hate, factually derived”. She is less concerned with the content than with the circumstances of the book presentation and the authors gathered in the work.
