Merle Louise (* 15. April 1934 as Merle Louise Letowt ) is an American actress , made especially for her work in the musicals of Stephen Sondheim , z. As a beggar in Sweeney Todd , is known.

Broadway and Sondheim

At the beginning of her career, she still appeared as Merle Letowt, she played the role of "Thelma" in the original Broadway production of Gypsy (1959). She later played the fourth lead role of "Dainty June" during much of the original production and on the first national tour.

Louise returned to Broadway as Susan in the 1970 Musical Company .
