Merscheid ( Luxembourgish : Mierschent ) is a village in the municipality of Pütscheid , Canton Vianden , in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg .

Merscheid is located on the CR 320, which connects the place with the two neighboring towns of Hoscheid and Weiler , and on the CR 320A, which runs south to Gralingen .
General and history
Merscheid is a small rural town. The first documentary mention took place in 1318 as Mercheit . The name means something like place in a forest clearing near a swamp. Even today, the forests between Merscheid and the Blees brook running to the west are quite swampy.
The town center is dominated by the parish church of St. Hauptert, built in 1833. Hauptert is another name for St. Hubertus of Liege . Merscheid has been an independent parish since 1808 . The places Gralingen, Weiler and Nachtmanderscheid also belong to the parish .
