Mesenich ( Luxembourgish Miesenech ) is a district of the local community Langsur in the district of Trier-Saarburg in Rhineland- Palatinate.
history
Mesenich lies on the left bank of the Sauer . The place was first mentioned in a document in 1028.
Before 1974 the place Mesenich was an independent municipality, which at that time consisted of the places Mesenich (lower part of today's Mesenich) and Födelich (upper part of today's Mesenich).
With effect from March 16, 1974 an administrative reform took place, in which the municipality Mesenich was incorporated into the municipality Langsur. The villages of Mesenich and Födelich formed what is now the Mesenich district. Since then, the place name Födelich has not been used in the village.
Church structure
Mesenich, which is run as a Catholic, is an independent parish which has been incorporated into the Trierweiler parish community since September 1st, 2011 under the name of St. Remigius. Since April 1, 2004, the parish has belonged to the then newly established dean's office in Schweich-Welschbillig. The parish still includes the villages of Metzdorf with Kemperborn (Hof) and Grewenich.

Mesenich was on the Nims-Sauertal Railway from Erdorf via Irrel to Igel . The route was closed and dismantled on its southern section in 1968. The 827 m long Mesenich tunnel (now unused) is located near Mesenich . The Mesenich station building fell victim to road construction ( B 418 ).
Others
A citizens' initiative is resisting an expansion of the neighboring quarry of Natursteinwerk Mesenich GmbH, which is to be enlarged from 25 to 40 hectares. In addition to the noise and dust, there is fear of a risk to the neighboring village of the motorway bridge over the Sauer.
