The Metailurini are a tribe of extinct cats with slightly elongated and slightly flattened upper canines. In the past they were assigned to the saber-toothed cats , but today they were assigned to the feline cats . Occasionally they are suggested as a separate subfamily, Metailurinae. Metal urine cats were common from the Miocene to the Pleistocene in Africa, Eurasia and North America.
