The Maceió Metropolitan Region ( RMM ), in Portuguese, Região Metropolitana de Maceió , is a metropolitan region in the Brazilian state of Alagoas . It was established by law on November 19, 1998 and is based in the city of Maceió . It consists of the 13 cities. Originally only 11 communities were added two more.
The metropolitan area affects all of Alagoas, north of Sergipe and parts of south of Pernambuco . One of the major municipal planning tasks for the authorities is to integrate public transport by sea, road and rail into the RMM.
