The Meusburger Georg GmbH & Co KG is an Austrian manufacturer of standard parts worldwide for mold bases and die racks with more than 22,500 customers. Meusburger was founded in 1964 as a one-man company in Dornbirn and is still family-owned today. The products are used in mold and punching tool construction as the basis for production tools.

history

The company was founded in Dornbirn in 1964 by Georg Meusburger (* 1936). In 1978 the production of standardized mold bases began and a first catalog was produced. In 1980 the company relocated to the newly constructed building with a floor space of 3,200 m² in Wolfurt. At that time it employed 35 people.
In 2007, the management of Georg Meusburger passed to his son Guntram. The company employed 260 people at the time and achieved sales of EUR 73 million. In 2010 the business field of standard parts for punching tool construction was introduced. With a turnover of 98 million euros, 380 people were employed. In 2013, Meusburger was the market leader in the field of standard parts with 700 employees and sales of EUR 160 million.

In 2014, on the 50th anniversary, a total turnover of 190 million euros was achieved. In 2015 sales rose further to 215 million euros, as did the number of employees to over 1,000.

All around 200 employees were taken over and PSG continued to operate as an independent company. In October 2019, PSG Plastic Service GmbH was fully integrated into Meusburger as a subsidiary of Meusburger Deutschland GmbH.

Knowledge management at Meusburger

The company has 5,500 knowledge documents on various topics. Almost all documents are based on the collective knowledge of employees and managers. The WBI method (knowledge-better-integration), which the managing director Guntram Meusburger developed, is fundamental. In order to remain competitive and optimize productivity, Meusburger will focus heavily on knowledge management in the future . During the 11th Knowledge Management Days in Stuttgart, Meusburger Georg GmbH & Co KG was named “Excellent Knowledge Organization 2015”. The carrier of the award is the Society for Knowledge Management eV (GfWM).

For over 15 years, Managing Director Guntram Meusburger has been involved in the practical implementation of corporate knowledge management. In his opinion, a company can only grow successfully if the available resources, such as the know-how of its employees, are used optimally. Fluctuation within the company always carries the risk that valuable experience and knowledge will be lost. "A functioning knowledge management is therefore a must for every company that wants to survive in the market in the long term," says Meusburger.

The WBI method is also the core topic of his book “Knowledge Management for Decision Makers”. A simple, easy-to-understand book that introduces the Meusburger tried and tested method. Companies can adapt the method according to the modular principle, regardless of the industry and company size, to their respective requirements. In addition, WBI brings numerous advantages for employees and managers: time and cost savings, quality improvement, motivation, innovative strength and security.
