Michèle Leduc
Michèle Leduc (born May 17, 1942 ) is a French physicist .
Career
Michèle Leduc studied from 1961 to 1965 at the École normal supérieure de jeunes filles . She received her doctorate in 1972 with a dissertation supervised by Jean-Claude Lehmann and Jean Brossel at the École normal supérieure . From 1969 until the end of her active professional career, she was a member of the CNRS at the Laboratoire Kastler Brossel , from 1994 to 1999 as its director. In 2005 she was appointed directrice de recherche de classe exceptionelle . She is now directrice de recherche émérite at the CNRS.
From 2006 to 2009 she was President of the Société française de physique , then President of the Fédération française des sociétés scientifiques, of which she was a founding member in 2009.
In her scientific work Michèle Leduc has mainly dealt with atomic and molecular physics, in particular with the spin polarization in helium-3 as well as the laser cooling and the Bose-Einstein condensation of metastable helium, as well as the application of spin-polarized helium-3 in particle physics and medicine .
Works
Michèle Leduc has published around 100 articles in scientific journals such as Physical Review Letters , Journal de physique, Laser physics or The Lancet and numerous popular scientific articles for a broader audience. She is the owner of 3 patents.
