Michael Arndt (born September 3, 1951 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from 1995 to 2001 and from 2002 to 2016 .

Life

Michael Arndt was born the son of Klaus Dieter Arndt . He completed his Abitur in 1974 at a grammar school in Berlin, studied at the Free University of Berlin (FU Berlin) and graduated in 1980 with a degree in economics . In 1980/81 he worked as a freelance research assistant in project research, in 1982 as a business teacher and from 1983 to 1986 as a research assistant at the Free University of Berlin and 1986/87 at the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin).

Arndt received his doctorate in 1986. Dr. rer. pole. and was then employed at the Institute for Future Studies and Technology Assessment from 1988 to 1991. In 1991/92 he worked as an administrative clerk at the Berlin Senate . From 1993 to 2017 he was employed as a research assistant in the department "Regionalization and New Economic Areas" or "Dynamics of Economic Areas" at the Leibniz Institute for Regional Development and Structural Planning (IRS, today: Leibniz Institute for Spatial Social Research).

Political party

Arndt has been a member of the SPD since 1975. Within the SPD he was department chairman of the SPD Lankwitz , member of the district executive committee and state delegate. From 2002 to 2014 he was district chairman of the SPD Steglitz-Zehlendorf .

Mandates

From 1985 to 1990 he took over the office as deputy and ordinary citizens' deputy of BVV Steglitz.

After the Berlin election in 1995 , Arndt moved into the Berlin House of Representatives for the first time and was a member of it until the 2001 election. In this election he failed to return to the House of Representatives, but on October 30, 2002 he replaced Benneter, who was elected to the Bundestag , and thus returned to the state parliament. Between 2007 and 2011 Arndt was building and housing policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the House of Representatives and a member of the Committee on Building and Housing and the Committee on Science and Research. From 2011 he was a member of the Main Committee and the Asset Management and Budgetary Control subcommittees. In 2016 he left the House of Representatives.

Further memberships

In addition to the SPD, Arndt is a member of the Ver.di union , the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) and the “Society for Shaping the Future”. He is also a board member of the “Architects and Engineers Association” (AIV) and a member of the “Blau-Gold Steglitz” sports club.
