Michael Berens

Michael Berens (* 1946 in Trier ) is a German art historian and monument conservator . From 1982 to 2011 he was head of the district monument maintenance of the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm .

Life

Berens grew up in the well-known, listed inn "Zur Glocke" in Trier, which was owned by his family until 2011. He first studied theology , then art history and was the founder of the Trier regional association of the Rhenish Association for Monument Preservation and Landscape Protection .

During his tenure as district monument curator from 1982 to 2011, he was largely responsible for the preservation of valuable farmhouses - for example in Waxweiler or Dudeldorf as well as for monuments of national importance such as Malberg Castle and the industrial- historical facilities of the Weilerbacher Hütte in Bollendorf . For the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Rhineland-Palatinate , he contributed to the monument topography of the Federal Republic of Germany for the Bitburg-Prüm district.

After Berens retired in 2011, he was a. a. as a tour guide on study trips of the adult education center of the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm e. V. active.
