Michael Birnthaler (born September 3, 1963 in Rohr in Niederbayern ) is a German ( adventure ) pedagogue , textbook author and head of the organization EOS-Erlebnispädagogik.

Life

After his teacher training and the completion of graduate teachers in Freiburg and vineyard he worked as a sports teacher at the Waldorf School in Pforzheim, Mainz and Schopfheim. In 2001 he was released from the Bund der Freie Waldorfschulen for a research assignment on the underflow of learning . He received his doctorate from Hansjosef Buchkremer at the University of Cologne .

In 2008 his first book was published, Erlebnispädagogik und Waldorfschulen: Ein Grundführung . Since then there have been numerous other book publications, since 2015 in the publishing house "Edition EOS", which he co-founded.

Within the EOS Institute, he worked on the “experiential education ” approach as a synthesis of experiential and Waldorf education . Today he is part of the management team of EOS-Erlebnispädagogik in Freiburg, an organization that specializes in national and international voluntary services (FSJ, BFD), the training and further education of adventure educators and on holiday camps and school trips. He is also a lecturer, speaker and trainer in the field of team development . At the beginning of 2019, the EOS-Erlebnispädagogik eV association, in which he is a member of the board, was able to acquire a former location of the Schloss Salem school, Hohenfels Castle.
