Michael Braun (critic)
Michael Braun (* 1958 in Hauenstein (Palatinate) ) is a German literary critic and, among other things, editor of the Deutschlandfunk poetry calendar . He lives in Heidelberg.
Career and work
Braun studied German and philosophy. He works on the radio, has been a presenter at the Erlanger Poetenfest since 1994 and has published numerous anthologies of contemporary poetry. With his extensive critical work in almost all public media in German-speaking countries (such as the Neue Zürcher Zeitung or the Tagesspiegel ), Michael Braun is considered one of the most profound experts on German-language poetry. His literary criticism, which has been ongoing for over forty years, is distinguished by detailed contributions to individual authors as well as by critical support for literary institutions, festivals and fundamental, global changes in the literary scene. In numerous interviews, he opened up innovative approaches to contemporary poetry and the interactions with other arts, such as painting.
