Michael Conrad von Heydendorff the Elder (also Michael Conrad Edler von Heydendorff; born November 26, 1730 in Mediasch ; † November 9, 1821 ibid) was a chronicler , historian and mayor in Transylvania .

Life

Conrad von Heydendorff came from a family that had already produced several civil servants and mayors. His grandfather Samuel Conrad was raised to the hereditary nobility as a noble von Heydendorff . Like his father Daniel, he was mayor of Medias. Conrad von Heydendorff went on June 11, 1750, after completing his studies, also in the government service with the Gubernium . He later turned to the administration of his hometown and became a senator there in 1775. From 1777 to 1784 he worked there as a royal judge, in 1786 he was appointed to the real imperial council of appeal. He also worked as a notary .

Conrad von Heydendorff was mayor of his hometown from 1790 to 1798 and again from 1805 to 1821 and at the same time he was a member of the Saxon University of Nations in Transylvania and the Transylvanian state parliament .

Conrad von Heydendorff wrote an autobiography that comprised around 900 printed pages and is considered a valuable source for dealing with regional history. The publication was made by Rudolf Theil from 1876 to 1883 in the archive of the Society for Transylvanian Regional Studies .
