Samuel Conrad , from 1696 Edler von Heydendorff (born March 9, 1647 in Bistritz ; † July 23, 1727 Mediasch ) was a Transylvanian administrative officer .

Life

Conrad von Heydendorff's youth, training and early activity are in the dark. In 1676 he entered the service of the city of Medias. There initially worked as a notary , then later as a senator . In the years from 1688 to 1693, 1695 to 1697, 1701 to 1702 and from 1703 to 1707 he was mayor of the city four times . In the intervening times, Petrus Hermann held the office of mayor and Conrad von Heydendorff held the office of royal judge, which Pertrus Hermann held during his tenure as mayor. They took turns in the offices.

Conrad von Heydendorff has been mentioned as a councilor of the local gubernium since 1692 . His official election, however, took place in the state parliament in Cluj-Napoca in 1695 . When almost the entire Gubernium had died due to the plague in 1708, he managed the business of the Gubernator of Transylvania . In addition, he is said to have made a name for himself as mayor in times of siege of Medisch. 1713 was re-elected to the Saxon Council in the Gubernium.

Conrad von Heydendorff is the progenitor of a long-standing noble family that produced administrative officials, scientists and the military. Among them were other mayors of Medias, such as his son Daniel, his grandson Michael the Elder and his son Michael the Younger.

Honors

Conrad von Heydendorff was awarded a gold chain of honor by Emperor Leopold . In 1692 he received confirmation of the nobility from the emperor, which is said to come from his grandfather Andreas Conrad, who is said to have made a name for himself as mayor of Bistritz. On 26 March 1696 he was Leopold ennobled , he was appointed as Edler von Heyden Dorff in the Reichsritterschaft added.
