The Geigerkopf ( 3174 m above sea level ) is a mountain peak of the Tauern main ridge in the Venediger Group on the border between Tyrol ( Lienz district ) and Salzburg ( Zell am See district ) or on the municipal border between Prägraten am Großvenediger and Neukirchen am Großvenediger . The date of the first ascent of the violinist's head is unknown. The first crossing was made by Hubert Peterka on August 28, 1929.
location
The Geigerkopf is a flat rock ridge on the east ridge of the Great Geiger ( 3360 m above sea level ). It is located between the Kleiner Maurerkeeskopf in the east and the Großer Geiger in the west, whereby the Geigerkopf is separated from the Kleiner Maurerkeeskopf by the Breite Sattel ( 3107 m above sea level ) and from the Großer Geiger by the Geigerschartl ( 3142 m above sea level ) becomes. South of the Geigerkopf is the Maurerkees, from which the Maurerbach rises, and to the north is the Obersulzbachkees .
Promotion opportunities
The normal route to the Geigerkopf leads over the Großer Geiger, which can be reached via the normal route from the Essen-Rostocker Hütte . From the Großer Geiger you then descend over the east ridge into the Geigerschartl and follow the ridge with easy climbing ( I ) to the rocky ridge of the Geigerkopf. The ridge crossing from the Kleiner Maurerkeeskopf, on the other hand, has much more difficult climbing points ( III in places ).
