Michael Cunningham

Michael Cunningham (born November 6, 1952 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American book and screenwriter.

Life

His novel The Hours (German: The Hours ) has been translated into 22 languages and won numerous literary awards, including the Pulitzer Prize and the Faulkner Award. In 2002 this was filmed and shown with a star cast (including Nicole Kidman , Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore ). In 2003 the German version was released under the title The Hours - From Eternity to Eternity . The film adaptation, directed by Stephen Daldry , has won numerous awards, including the Academy Award ( Oscar ) for Nicole Kidman.

His novel A Home at the End of the World was successfully filmed in 2004 (with Colin Farrell, among others ). For this movie, Cunningham first worked on the script himself.

Michael Cunningham is Professor of Creative Writing at Brooklyn College in New York.
