Michael Danzinger (actually Karl Michael Andreas) (born October 17, 1914 in Vienna ; † August 20, 2007 there ) was an Austrian pianist, entertainer and composer.

Life

Michael Danzinger comes from an old family of musicians from Gottesgab (today Boží Dar) in the Ore Mountains . His grandfather Karl Theodor Johann Unger (1846–1923), a member of the Vienna Philharmonic , was a third generation musician. Danzinger studied philosophy, Latin and physical education in Vienna. He learned violin at the Vienna Conservatory and taught himself to play the piano. His musical career began as a prisoner of war in Heidelberg, where he played in a club in the American prisoner of war camp . After the war he started to work for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation , first at RAVAG , where he did the program Improvisations am Klavier . Danzinger founded a combo in the Wiener Funkhaus. After several years of active activity abroad with concerts in Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany, he played both in the broadcasting house and in the newly built ORF center.

Together with Ernst Hagen, Michael Danzinger developed the ORF program Seniorenclub in 1967 , of which he was the musical director and which he also accompanied musically until the last broadcast in 2000. At the end of the 1960s, he organized the first senior club evenings with Hagen in the club building opposite the town hall, where the loyalty club was also housed under Hagen's presidency. Every Saturday Danzinger u. a. four hands with Robert Stolz some of the most popular Stolz numbers. The first broadcasts of the senior citizens' club were recorded there. Then the production moved to the Ronacher in order to move into the new house on Küniglberg after a year. For his many years of service, he received the title of professor and the Silver Medal for Services to the State of Vienna . "Prof. At the piano, Danzinger was the musical symbol of this program and accompanied countless artists in their performances. ”The lively theme song of the senior citizens' club called Holidays also comes from his pen.

He made music with artists from the opera and the entertainment industry, played in Martin Flossmann's Simpl-Revue and recorded 38 LPs with artists such as Greta Keller , Liane Augustin and others from the AMADEO label.

Michael Danzinger died on August 20, 2007 at the age of 92 in Vienna and was buried in the Ober Sankt Veiter Friedhof (group E, row 9, number 28).
