Michael Jay Davidson (* 1963 in New Jersey , USA ) is an American singer and songwriter who was under contract with the record company Sire Records .

Life

The 1987 song Turn it up, produced by the British producer trio Stock Aitken Waterman and also featured on the soundtrack for the film Who’s That Girl (starring Madonna ), was his biggest hit in the global charts to date. Turn it up was written by Davidson himself and the French artist Frédéric Mercier . Phil Harding, on the other hand, was responsible for mixing.

In 1989 his second single Warehouse was released , but it only achieved low sales. Warehouse was written by Michael Davidson and Mitch Kaplan . The music producer and DJ Mark Kamins from New York , the Madonna u. a. owed her first record deal with Sire Records , produced and mixed the 12 "maxi-single. After the single flopped, Davidson left the music business.

Turn it up is repeatedly published on various compilations from the 1980s. In 2008 the song was released as a remix ( In Full Cry Mix ) alongside numerous film hits by such stars as Limahl and Tina Turner on the film sampler Movie klub80 ( Warner Music Poland ). The video for his one-hit wonder Turn it up , which can be classified more as a low-budget production, exists in two different versions (radio version and extended mix) and is still very popular on many video platforms in the Internet.

Davidson was also active as a songwriter and wrote a. a. the title It's A Strange Love for Brigitte Nielsen's hit album Every Body Tells A Story from 1987. In the Warner Music Publishing database there is another song title by him, Boys Games , which he is said to have composed with Bruce Roberts .

Davidson has lived in San Francisco as a photographer since 2001 .
