Michael Andre Dixon Jr. (born December 1, 1990 in Kansas City ) is an American basketball player who is used at a height of 1.86 m in the positions of point guard and shooting guard . Dixon has both US citizenship and Georgian citizenship.

Career

At club level

Michael Dixon played college basketball at the universities of Missouri and Memphis . After he was not included in the 2014 NBA Draft , he began his professional career in the first Lithuanian basketball league for Dzukija Alytus . Only a few game days later, he moved to league rivals Pieno Zvaigzdes . With this he played from then on in the Baltic Basketball League . In summer 2015 he was signed by CEZ Nymburk . With this he defended the Czech championship , reached the round of 16 of the playoffs in the VTB United League and played in the FIBA Europe Cup .

Before the 2016/17 season , Dixon signed a two-year contract (1 + 1) with the Champions League participant and Greek first division club AEK Athens . He extended this prematurely on January 20, 2017 until the end of the 2018/19 season. Despite an ongoing contract, the player announced his move to Strasbourg IG in the summer of 2017 . He left it after eleven match days, at the beginning of December 2017, and moved to the second Turkish league for Bahcesehir Basketbol, trained by Stefanos Dedas .

National team

For the Georgian national basketball team , whose citizenship he had received in 2016, Dixon played in the qualification for the European Championship 2017 . In five games, Dixon got 16.6 points and 4.2 assists per game.

Trivia

On the morning of his 26th birthday, on December 2, 2016, Dixon was responsible for a fatal traffic accident in Menidi, in the municipality of Acharnes . After Dixon overlooked a stop sign and collided with another car , they caught a bypassing passer-by who succumbed to his injuries and died on site. Dixon himself was only slightly injured in this accident.
