Michael Donth (* 8. June 1967 in Metzingen ) is a German politician of the CDU and since 2013 directly elected Member of Parliament of the constituency Reutlingen .

Life

Michael Donth grew up in Grafenberg . From 1973 to 1977 Michael Donth attended elementary school in Grafenberg, then from 1977 to 1986 the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Gymnasium in Metzingen, where he also graduated from high school. After completing basic military service, Donth began studying to become a graduate in administration at the Ludwigsburg University of Applied Sciences. He then worked for the large district town of Metzingen and in the administration of the city of Pfullingen.

He is Catholic, married and has 3 children.

Political commitment

Michael Donth has been a member of the CDU since 1989.

In 1999 he became mayor of Römerstein , and in 2007 he was re-elected. Since 1999 he has been a member of the CDU parliamentary group in the Reutlinger Kreisag, of which he was chairman between 2007 and 2013. Michael Donth has been a member of the board of the CDU district association Reutlingen since 2007. He was also elected as an assessor to the district committee of the CDU Württemberg-Hohenzollern and sent to the state committee for traffic and digital infrastructure, the state committee for rural areas and the district committee for rural areas.

In the 2013 federal election , Donth won the direct mandate in the Reutlingen federal constituency with 51.9 percent of the first votes . In the 18th German Bundestag he was a full member of the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure and a deputy member of the Committee on Tourism .

In the federal election on September 24, 2017 , Michael Donth was again able to win the direct mandate in the constituency (289) Reutlingen with 40.8% . Donth is again a full member of the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure and, since the 19th electoral term, has also been a full member of the Committee on Tourism . In addition to these two committees, he is also a deputy member of the budget committee and represents the CDU / CSU parliamentary group as a member of the railway infrastructure advisory board .

As a member of the Committee for Transport and Digital Infrastructure , Donth is primarily responsible for local public transport , taxis and long-distance buses , but also for railways, federal land and waterways and broadband expansion. He is also a full member of the Tourism Committee and an alternate member of the Budget Committee.

Since February 22, 2018 Michael Donth has been one of 62 secretaries in the German Bundestag.

He is also a member of the German-French, German-Central American and German-South Asian parliamentary groups. Donth is also a member of the non-partisan European Union Germany , which advocates a federal Europe and the European unification process.

Church and other honorary positions

Michael Donth and his wife are both engaged as lecturers and communion helpers in their parish. He also sings in the mayor's choir of the Reutlingen district.
