Michael Druks (born September 26, 1940 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli - British video and performance artist .

life and work

Druks was born in Jerusalem in 1940 and grew up in Tel Aviv . He quickly made contacts with artists and the theater scene. He studied art from 1966 to 1970 at the Bat-Yam Art Institute in Tel Aviv and later at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. He has lived and worked in London since 1972.

Druksland is one of his most famous works. It is a self-portrait as a kind of topographic map. There are various types of "detention" from him: Michael Druks stands in the corner of the classroom of his school, in the Knesset building and at the Western Wall , or writes the same sentence over and over as a punishment.
