Michael Emig

Michael Emig (born September 23, 1948 in Leipzig ) is a German painter and graphic artist from the Leipzig School .

Artistic career

Michael Emig trained in drawing with the painter and graphic artist B. Grothe in Naumburg between 1963 and 1967 . After graduating from high school in 1967, he was trained as a lithographer at "CGRöder" in Leipzig from 1969 to 1971 . Also from 1969 to 1971 Emig attended the evening academy at the Leipzig School of Graphics and Book Art .

Between 1971 and 1976 he studied at the University of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig with Hans Mayer-Foreyt , Werner Tübke , Arno Rink and Rolf Kuhrt . After completing his studies with a diploma in 1976, he moved to Magdeburg , and has lived in Leipzig again since 2017 . Michael Emig has been working as a freelancer since graduating.

From 1992 to 1995 he had a teaching position at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg . Between 2001 and 2004 Emig was a lecturer in design in the craft at the Magdeburg Chamber of Crafts .

Michael Emig was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR and now of the following associations: the Association of Visual Artists Saxony-Anhalt, the Regional Association Magdeburg and the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BBK), the professional association of visual artists Saxony-Anhalt, in the Federal Association of Visual Artists Artist (BBK) and since 2018 in BBK Leipzig eV

style

His style developed out of the new objectivity that was popular in the 1970s. Today his style is fundamentally realistic with echoes of Fantastic Realism and Surrealism .
