from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinz Michael Galla (born November 14, 1972 in Wattenscheid ; † August 9, 2011 ) was a German rapper under the pseudonym Galla .

Life

Galla grew up in Bochum-Wattenscheid. After initially being a punk , he joined the hip hop scene in the mid-1980s and grew up without his parents from the age of 16. Together with Pahel Schulinus Brunis , alias Pahel , he finally founded the group Filo Joes , from which Ruhrpott AG grew out of a merger with Raid alias Aphroe & DJ Mr. Wiz . After two successful albums, he decided to move to Berlin-Kreuzberg , where he owned a trendy boutique called Hoodlum from 2004 to 2006 and recorded his only solo album Swing Kid together with the producer Illfaded Tre . After the shop closed, he returned to Bochum, where he worked as a cook. Galla died in 2011 as a result of a cerebral infarction .

reception

The online magazine allesreal.de certified Galla, "As a poet and thinker [not to be afraid] to allow insights into his world of thoughts and feelings". Backspin magazine also praised the lyrics, but criticized "that there are certainly better rappers when viewed from the flow and style aspect [...]." Hiphop.de, on the other hand, found “Galla's skills and flow are perfect”, which is why the album Swing Kid was rated 4.5 out of 6 possible points.
