The Ruhrpott AG (RAG) was a German hip-hop group from Bochum .

history

RAG emerged from two hip-hop crews who were already active in the Ruhr area and beyond: Filo Joes (with the two MCs Pahel , who was previously guitarist for the band Die Kassierer , and Galla ) and Raid (MC Aphroe and DJ Mr. Wiz ). Mr. Wiz does not come directly from Bochum, but from Oberhausen , Aphroe originally comes from Herne . Both groups were involved in the hip-hop scene in the early 1990s; Raid are represented on the sampler Die Klasse von '95 , as well as an integral part of the all-star formation "La Familia" (Raid, Curse , Stieber Twins , Tatwaffe (Die Firma), STF and Busy).

Raid and Filo Joes then ran into each other more often at jams and other events. They discovered that they share a similar mentality and decided to make music together under the name “Ruhrpott AG”. As one of the first pieces, which was only released on the second album POTTENTIAL , the original version of Tief im Westen was created .

In 1998 the debut album Unter Tage was released on Peter Srekovich's Put Da Needle To Da Records label , who was also an MC for STF and La Familia as FastForward. Almost all of the ten tracks were produced by DJ Wiz; FastForward, Aphroe and Funky Chris from Too Strong also took part in the beats . There were features from Der Lange (Too Strong), Creutzfeld & Jakob and Chriss Krass.

Three years later the second and final album POTTENTIAL was released, which was produced exclusively by Wiz. Profan 78 and the singer E-One appeared as guests.

After two joint LPs, the RAG members went their separate ways. Pahel ("Natur des Menschen", produced by Monroe) Galla ("Swing Kid" produced by Illfated Tree) and Aphroe ("90") released solo albums on various labels.

In December 2017, RAG announced the first concert in 13 years for February 2018.
