. Roey Marquis II (also Ming or RM2 , actually Calogero Randazzo * 1971 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German - Italian hip-hop - producer .

biography

At the age of 18, Calogero Randazzo hangs up at Larry's Inn in Frankfurt am Main and shortly thereafter becomes its managing director. In 1991 he was one of the co-founders of the music label S.YA Records , whose focus is on Eurodance and Rap . He also opens the Sounds Of Blackness record store with B. Knetter and A. Höft in Frankfurt am Main . At the beginning of 1992 he started a DJ engagement in the Funkadelic Club under his stage name Roey Marquis II .

In February 1993 he founded the jazz- influenced label Loose Ends together with Kerstin Lamb . Shortly thereafter, they founded the hip-hop label Ruff-n-Raw. At this time Roey Marquis II. Produced artists such as Will Williams, Optropic T (h) ree, Diferenz and his own projects Jazz Con Bazz and Roey Marquis II. Presents Raw And Uncut HipHop.

From 1993 to 1996 Calogero was a support DJ for acts like Run DMC, Onyx, Fugees, Grandmaster Flash, Nas and KRS One. At the same time he continues to lead his labels and runs the promotion agency Tribes Of The Underground. From 1997 Roey has been working with the Frankfurt production company Fun De Mental , where he heads the Quiet Force (Germany) label and the Genuine Productions division, which is heavy on rap / R&B . He is also working on his portable club, The Marquis Club.

A year later he founded the MK2 project with DJ Kabuki and released the album Prepare To Be Educated.

In 1999 he founded the rap group Spiritual Warriors with Germ and Matrix . An album of the same name emerged from this collaboration .

In 2000 the first solo album by Roey Marquis II is released: Ming . Ming is the first part of the RM2 trilogy . In the same year, Calogero founds the production company Shen Productions. The new label Ming Dynasty has been replaced by Quiet Force . At the end of the year he signed a publishing contract and founded Edition Shen Ming with Premium Blend. Roey Marquis signs Jonesmann , Jeyz , Profan 78 , Pal One , Lunafrow and other artists.

In July 2001, the second part of the series of snapshots will be distributed on CD for the first time. In the same year RM2 was voted HipHop Producer of the Year by Juice readers.

In 2002 the album Herzessenz was released ; the second part of the RM2 trilogy. Just another year later, the last part of the trilogy is published: Samsara . He also produces tracks for artists like Curse , Olli Banjo , Stress & Trauma and Pyranja . In 2004 , Roey released Snapshots 3 and ended this series as well.

In 2005 he released the LP Deinzeichen together with Absztrakkt . Due to the high demand, reprints of the tapes Battle Of The Words 1 and Snapshots 1 will also be produced this year . He also starts the project Ground Under Germany , to which underground artists should send their self-produced tracks. However, due to poor quality, the project was discontinued and then renamed The Platform .

In 2006 the 7-day LP with Pal One appears. On July 21, 2006, Battle Of The Words 2 was released.

In 2007 his instrumental album Ming's Biosphere followed.

In 2008 he published his biography Lebenslinien , which he wrote together with Tobias Hoeft.

In 2009 the Absztrakkt album , which was mainly produced by him, was released , as well as Zumo Breaks 3, a collection of instrumentals that were produced in equal parts by him and Curse.
