Michael Geyer (historian)

Michael Geyer (* 1947 ) is a German historian and university professor who has lived and taught mainly in the USA since the 1980s .

Life

Michael Geyer passed his Abitur at the Fürstenberg-Gymnasium in Donaueschingen in 1966 . In 1976 he did his doctorate with Andreas Hillgruber at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg . In 1984 he was appointed Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan , Ann Arbor , Michigan . He has been teaching at the University of Chicago since 2000 and holds the Samuel N. Herper Chair for German and European History.
