Michael Greenberg

Michael Greenberg (* 1952 ) is an American writer .

Greenberg grew up as the son of a scrap metal dealer in New York City . After completing his studies, he worked as a Spanish interpreter for some time and worked in various odd jobs. In 2008 his work Hurry Down Sunshine was published (by Other Press) , in which he recorded the mental illness of his daughter Sally in literary form. The German translation (by Hans-Christian Oeser ) was published in 2009 under the title The day on which my daughter went crazy by Hoffmann and Campe . In 2009 he published Beg, Borrow, Steal, an autobiographical work about his life as a writer in the metropolis of New York. The German translation was published by Hoffmann and Campe in 2010 under the title Betteln, Borgen, Stehlen .

Greenberg is a columnist for The Times Literary Supplement , The Village Voice , The New York Review of Books, and Boston Review .
