Michael Höft (entrepreneur)

Michael Höft (born April 13, 1952 in Bremen ) is a German businessman and entrepreneur and, together with his former fellow student Rolf Wessel, co-founded the company Höft & Wessel (H & W), which was later traded on the German stock exchange .

Life

After finishing school, Michael Hoeft studied physics in Darmstadt at the city's Technical University before 1975 by Hannover at the former University went to study physics and mathematics. In the capital of Lower Saxony, he met his fellow student Rolf Wessel, who had started studying architecture in 1974. Only a few years later, the two went into business for themselves and founded their IT company Höft & Wessel in 1978 , which they converted into a GmbH in 1980, then into a stock corporation in 1998 and listed on the Neuer Markt at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in the same year .

Michael Höft and Rolf Wessel had expanded the IT and software company they founded, whose product portfolio includes ticket machines, electronic ticket printers, terminals for toll stations, parking machines and parking systems as well as mobile data collection devices, into an internationally operating company based in Hanover and Swindon near London . The company founders, who expanded their field of activity beyond Europe to the USA , later took over seats on the supervisory board of their former start-up company .

Honors

In 1999 the Board of Trustees wanted to award the Karmarsch Memorial Medal - in contrast to the practices and considerations of previous years - specifically to honor "young, innovative and successful entrepreneurs from the Hanover region ". After a unanimous decision, the double honors on the respective certificate for the medal award ceremony on November 3, 1999 said:

"... for his exemplary achievements as an innovative company founder."
