Michael Harvey (born April 4, 1944 in Leicester , Great Britain ) is a British-American conceptual artist , writer , painter , draftsman and avant-garde film and video artist . He lives in Lyme , USA .

life and work

Michael Harvey studied at Leicester College from 1964 to 1969. He has lived in the USA since the late 1960s. His art cannot be assigned to any particular direction. He paints and designs versatile and conceptual. His films and video works bear the traces of structural and experimental film. He is also active as an author of artistic short stories and short stories.

Leading galleries show his works, including The Leo Castelli Gallery, Metro Pictures, Daniel Wolf Gallery, PS1 and the Paula Cooper Gallery. His work is part of the collections of important museums: Whitney Museum of American Art , Museum of Modern Art , Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art.

Michael Harvey participated in Documenta 5 in Kassel in 1972 in the Light + Idea / Light department .

On the occasion of the election of Barack Obama as President of the USA, Michael Harvey designed artistic Obama busts from various materials to support him.
