Lyme is a city in New London County in the US state Connecticut , with 2016 residents (as of 2004). The place on the Connecticut River was first settled by Europeans in 1664. Lyme, along with the neighboring town of Old Lyme, is the namesake for Lyme borreliosis .

history

The Saybrook Colony was established east of the Connecticut River in 1665 . In this area, Lyme was officially recognized as part of the Saybrook Colony in 1667. The eastern part of Lyme was split off as East Lyme in 1823, the southern part was split off as South Lyme in 1855 and renamed Old Lyme in 1857 .
